ORGAN TRANSPLANTATION

Organ transplantation means harvesting an organ from the donor body, that is, the donating body and then placing it in the recipient body with that organ is damaged or missing.

Heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, pancreas, intestines, thymus and uterus are among the organs that can be successfully transplanted in our times.

Bone Marrow Transplantation

Bone marrow transplantation is a procedure involving the placement of healthy stem cells to replace the damaged or diseased bone marrow and produce healthy blood for the body.

There are two types of bone marrow transplantation, that is, the autologous and allogenic transplantations. Transplantations that cells harvested from the own body of the patient are called autologous transplantations, while transplantations using cells harvested from a donor (donating body) are called allogenic transplantations.

Kidney Transplantation

Kidney transplantation is the procedure of replacing the failing kidney with another harvested from a living or cadaver donor to ensure the continuance of renal functions of the patient.

Kidney transplantation can be performed in two ways. These methods are called the robotic kidney transplantation and the single-port surgery.  It is possible to perform these procedures with closed operation methods.

Operation with closed method is carried out through small holes created in the abdominal area of the patient instead of making large incisions in the patient’s body. This procedure performed through only two small holes and a small incision made to take the kidney out gives more successful outcomes as regards cosmetics as compared to open surgery. Patients can be discharged at postoperative day one following the procedure. There will be no need to remove the sutures, because sutures are hidden and esthetic sutures.
